Mary asks…
How long should I do the row machine for?
So i finally just used this at the gym last night. I felt like in 10 minutes I got a better workout than I do spending 1 hour on a bike (the ones that are lower to the ground with arm rests.) It was saying that I was burning around 600 calories an hour (even though an hour would probably be impossible.) But what is the best way to use this machine for a good cardio workout ?? Like I said, I got a great exercise in only 10 minutes, and I have only used it once, so I'm a little worried about overstraining myself.

Rowing machines give you the best workout- abs, legs, arms, and cardiovascular. However, if you're just starting out using it, you might not be doing right and it can strain your back. Start out slow; it's really easy to overdo it during the first 5-10 minutes and then run out of breath. Try half an hour for early workouts with a 2 K (the big number on the screen) time of anything under 2:30. Work up to 45 or 1 hour workouts as you improve your strength (but, for a warning, rowing gets pretty boring after 20 minutes).
